The perks of raspberry leaf tea don't end with birth, especially because it's capable of boosting breast milk supply and actually repairing uterine tissue. I always recommend new moms continue to drink the tea for at least a few months postpartum. This goes for vaginal and surgical births; both can benefit from the effects of raspberry leaf tea since its packed with nutrients: magnesium, manganese, iron, vitamin C, b-vitamins and potassium.
Red raspberry leaf works great with nettles during pregnancy and while breastfeeding since they both provide amazing nutrition as well as helping to balance hormones. Even children can drink these teas with benefit!
Alfalfa has a long history in women's health. Breastfeeding mothers have been using alfalfa to support lactation for ages. It contains phytoestrogens or plant-components that resemble estrogens and can attach to their receptors, and is anecdotally thought to increase milk supply.
Fennel is a flavorful herb with a lot of health benefits for you and your baby. Its anti-oxidant qualities will help to eliminate free radicals in your body. Since whatever you take your baby takes too through your breast milk, the anti-oxidant properties will also pass to the baby. Other health benefits of fennel tea include eliminating digestive disorder.
Oatstraw is one of the most nutritive and gentle herbs you will find. Along with promoting better sleep, the soothing benefits of Oatstraw for the nervous system can calm stress, nerves, and irritability. It’s one of the traditional nervine herbs used to treat general anxiety.
